Welcome to Kingdom

On an Earth parallel to our own, few people recognize the supernatural forces nibbling on the edge of their world. Daemons and other unnatural creatures stand unopposed across this world - except in a laid back college town. Here, the descendants of a long-lost civilization have protected their new home, passing their remaining magical ability - and their duty - on for generations, up into the modern times.

They are now known only as Hunters, humans blessed with the ability to manipulate the elements, and who use their gifts in order to push unnatural perils back to the fringes. A new generation of Hunters have taken up the mantle of war, yet on a fateful August evening, they inadvertently sabotagued their own mission. These Hunters have opened pandora's box, drawing hoards of daemons into their hometown - daemons seeking a prize lost to them since prehistory.

This prize, walking the world in human form, shares a common origin with the Hunters, and its fate is entwined with theirs. Now that its safety is threatened once more, the artifact's select group of Guardians have awoken as well. They possess all of the powers of a Hunter, plus much more, and so they have not only the mystery of the daemons to uncover, but mysteries about their own nature and mission to solve as well.

The world is changing rapidly, and if the Hunters and Guardians are to have any hope of changing the tide of war, they will need help. So join them in an adventure you won't forget!

Six months later...

Big gap between updates. Kol apologizes and vaguely points in the direction of work and Nanowrimo. Which, unless she is mistaken, all the members who participated in the challenge actually won! So congrats to everyone, especially to Angie, who wrote some wonderful Kingdom pieces for her challenge :D.

Since quite a lot has been going on in Kingdom in the last six months, prepare yourself for a very long update! Now might be the time to grab a soda *__*

Since August we  have welcomed four new players to the fold. Our wonderful new members are Addie (who plays Cecily and Paris), Angie (who plays Alex and Tasha), Bri (who plays Rufus and Walker), and Z (who plays Ari). We love them all muchly and are having great fun abusing interacting with their characters!

The Character Sheets page has been updated yet again, and Kol will be plugging in the remaining icons as soon as she finishes them. The Wanted Characters page has a few minor edits and clarifications. The lists of logs for the second and third campaigns have been updated (with well over ten logs) and we've created a new catchall for anything that falls under the future campaign label. Mostly because a few of us have been tinkering with the Long December campaign already ^.^;;

The meme shall never die!

We are working on a few group collaborative articles on Daemons and Jinn. We are not entirely sure when either will be finished, but if you have any questions about either group, please don't hesitate to take them to the forums! We love questions almost as much as we love answering them :D.

The game has been issued a challenge! The Kingdom100 table is looking a bit sparse, so a few weeks ago Kol challenged the memberpool to fill it in as much as possible before the new year. Whoever adds in the most entries before the end of the year will get a present. ^.^;;

Pixie has been hard at work on the Kingdom calendar which will be unveiled in January. You can see some teasers of the art on the character sheets page.

2010 is threatening to be the year of oodles of Kingdom shenanigans occurring offline. A large portion of the member pool will be journeying to Vegas in late January for a week of partying serious funtimez. We are all tremendously excited, and not just for the jacuzzi! In May, 3-4 of us will also be hitting the Fanime Convention in San Jose.  Fun times to be had by all, and hopefully more drabble and art wars!

On a personal note, Kol would like to thank all the members of Kingdom for making the game thrive in this difficult year. You are all wonderful to play with, and I can't wait to see what craziness we work on over the next twelve months! Hugs and nog to all <3.

Happy August Everyone!

A lot of updates for the month, so I'm just going to jump in and welcome Brian and Clover, our two newest characters, to the game! Both are played by d00mpixie :D. The Character Sheets page has been updated and almost everyone has an icon now! RaeMara, and Reed's profiles have all been edited.

We started the third campaign, Staring at the Sun! Better known as Pacificon, that wonderful weekend in September where our characters dork out and significant plots converge! The Campaigns page and lists of logs for the second and third campaigns have been updated as well.

The SettingGetting StartedWanted Characters, and University of California: Sunset City pages have all been updated. Kol is almost finished with the revisions to the Magic System, and should have it posted by the end of the week. The revisions are mostly decorative, although we will be including a small blurb on the Jinn and how they use magic a smidge differently than the Guardians & Hunters.

Significant work has gone into developing the Jinn. We'll be introducing the first Jinn in the fourth campaign, which will be set in October. Ren posted a short explanation of The Way Jinn Work at the forums (very successfully translating Kolspeak for everyone), and several Jinn are in the works behind the scenes. Our goal is to have the Jinn information finished and uploaded to the portal by the 14th of August. You can see a preview of the Jinn information up on the Getting Started page.

Sporadic Updates Combine!

Written by Kolamity Wednesday, 06 May 2009 23:27

Doh, silly Kol has been forgetting to update the Portal's main page!

A lot has happened in the last few months! We've gained a few new characters and have been working on several new projects, including the Kingdom100. And we are happy to announce the Jinn are almost ready for application! We are working at finishing the faction while one of our members tackles the first application, so we should have a great deal more information on the Jinn up within the next few weeks.

Additionally, we are in the middle of implementing a new layout and integrating new material onto the website. Please be aware that for the next few days, things might be a bit broken. Sorry about that!

We're also unleashing new site navigation and streamlining our log listing.

The site should become stable again by next Thursday. Cool

Welcome New Blood!

Written by Kolamity Friday, 16 January 2009 23:18

First of all, I'd like to welcome our trio of new characters, Dr Irving Barsama (played by Gryle), Dusty McNeill (played by d00mpixie), and Reddel Blake (played by Edgewise)!

A few logs have started up:  Running Up That Hill: In which Deon goes for a run-- and forces Mara to join him, Mid-Life Crisis: Irv's introduction thread, taking place at the soon to be destroyed Bar None,  and No Place Like Home: Dusty's introduction thread (and possibly Reddel's as well), following Dusty's misadventure as he interviews for a room at the Fortress but gets a whole lot of kraken instead). We're slowly finishing up the last run of logs as well.

Finally, there have been a few updates to the website over the last month, beyond integrating the new characters in, mostly of them centered on the campaign timeline page. It should be up to date on log listings, and we also added a miniature calendar for September 2008 to make things a bit easier.

There's a game chat tentatively being scheduled for sometime next week, more information will be posted on the forums once we pick a time & date!
