Campaigns
Because life isn't six months of the same fight.
Many text based RPGs lock members into one plot arc, from which all stories must revolve around. Unfortunately, this often leads to stagnated, disinterested members, as their characters have become trapped in the same, boring conflicts. There's nothing to hold their interest because they've written the same things over and over again.
We recognized this problem and found our solution in the television model. Show runners solve audience (and writer) fatigue by starting off each season with a new bundle of conflicts and plots. Although the premise remains the same, things remain fresh, and people tend to stay interested.
Rather than follow the television model precisely, we adapted the model to a more liberated campaign concept. Like a television season, each campaign explores the same plots and/or conflicts over several logs within a specific time frame. The amount of time and the number of logs within each campaign is left to the member base. For examples, the Pacificon campaign covers a single weekend while the What Came Before campaign stretches across four years.
One important thing to note: because we rarely write the logs in chronological order, we have a flexible dating system. We have found this helps keep the game moving and is why we frequently have logs running in two campaigns. Our goal for Kingdom is to create the kind of environment where our members are inspired to write whatever they wish, without having to wait months, even years, for the game to move to that point.
Campaign Zero: What Came Before
Though not a true campaign, What Came Before houses all the logs that take place between 2004 and the third week of August 2008. A few of the logs within this category contain elements that do not strictly fall in line with the current game canon (for example, at times in very early logs Mara is incorrectly referred to as a Summoner). We will eventually be editing these elements out of the original logs.

Campaign 1: Welcome to the Black Parade
Welcome to the Black Parade spans roughly two weeks, from late August to September 2nd (2008). Most of the logs deal with either the cracking of the Purity Seal or the cracking's aftermath. Other major events include the birth of the Gumbies Band, the awakening of the Guardians, and an unusually high number of daemon hunts in Sunset City.

Campaign 2: In Search of...
In Search of... starts September 3rd and spans the first two weeks of September (2008). Logs within this period of time tend to deal with the rising tide of daemons and the arrival of new Hunters. Tensions and frustrations abound as well as once-cohesive teams split to solve mysteries and engage in training. Older and stronger daemons continue to assault Sunset City. And an unseasonable heat wave only makes things worse.

Campaign 3: Staring at the Sun
Staring at the sun, also referred to as Pacificon, spans a single weekend in the middle of September (2008). Hunters and Guardians gather at the one of the biggest conventions in California. It was suppose to be a weekend of mischief, not a fight for their lives! Meanwhile, the meeting of the only known descendants of the purity artifact, Rae and Brian, catches the attention of the Jinn. Things are about to get even worse.
